Eko Hot Blog reports that Kanu’s lead counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, had earlier raised concerns that both his family and lawyers were being prevented from seeing him at the DSS headquarters in Abuja, despite court rulings permitting regular visits.
Following intense pressure, the DSS finally granted access on Friday. Prince Emmanuel Kanu, the IPOB leader’s younger brother, confirmed the visit, expressing relief but urging authorities to uphold the court order that allows bi-weekly visits.

Speaking to journalists, Prince Kanu emphasized that continuously denying access to his brother damages Nigeria’s international reputation. He urged the Federal Government to ensure compliance with legal directives.
“Nnamdi Kanu is not Nigeria’s problem. He is part of the solution. The DSS must obey the law and allow family and legal visits as directed by the courts,” he stated.
Kanu has been in DSS custody since his controversial arrest and extradition to Nigeria in June 2021.

His continued detention has remained a source of tension, with calls for his release growing louder from both local and international groups.
Despite Friday’s access, concerns remain about the DSS’s adherence to court rulings, with supporters warning against further violations of Kanu’s rights.
