The West African Container Terminal (WACT) in Onne, River State, has finalized plans to raise its tariffs, effective April 1, 2025.
Eko Hot Blog reports that WACT has secured the necessary approvals from relevant agencies to adjust both terminal handling charges and storage fees at the terminal.

The announcement detailed that terminal handling charges (THC) will increase by eight per cent, while storage charges will see a more significant adjustment of 100 per cent.
“We wish to inform you that WACT has reviewed its tariff in line with the relevant regulatory approval to adjust both Terminal Handling Charges and Storage chargeable at the terminal.
“To this end, effective on April 1, 2025, applicable THCs shall be duly adjusted by eight per cent and Storage by 100 per cent, and the new rates shall be made available on our website on the said effective date,” the notice read in part.
Effective April 1, 2025, the terminal will offer five storage-free days instead of the previous three.

“We understand the inconvenience this may cause you; hence, the storage-free days have been adjusted from three free days to five free days,” it added.
WACT mentioned that as a customer-centric business, “it has continued to provide excellent customer experience by investing in both equipment and infrastructure upgrades and process optimisation.”
WACT highlighted that these changes aim to enhance e-commerce products, flexibility, reliability, and overall cost-effectiveness for both the terminal’s operations and those of its customers.
