The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has emerged as the unopposed flagbearer of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the November 8, 2025 governorship election.
Soludo secured an overwhelming endorsement from party delegates, polling 3,168 yes-votes with no opposing ballots during the primary election held in Awka on Saturday.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that announcing the results, the Chief Returning Officer, Uche Nwegbo, stated, “Total delegates for this election were 3,260, with 3,175 accredited. A total of 3,172 votes were cast, out of which four were invalid. Soludo garnered 3,168 yes-votes, with zero no-votes. In line with INEC guidelines, I hereby declare Professor Chukwuma Soludo as the duly elected candidate of APGA.”
In his acceptance speech, Soludo expressed gratitude to party members and the people of Anambra, vowing to continue delivering progressive leadership.
“I am humbled by this historic solidarity and accept the nomination wholeheartedly. Anambra keeps rising through the progressive leadership that APGA has consistently provided. I assure you that I will not fail you,” he said.
Reflecting on his administration’s achievements, Soludo highlighted the state’s progress without borrowing funds. “Three years down the line, we have achieved what many call magical, and we are only getting started. Anambra has not seen anything yet,” he declared.
The governor also praised the peaceful conduct of the primaries, noting that voting was completed within an hour, and thanked INEC observers and support groups for their steadfast backing.
In a show of continuity, Soludo announced the renomination of his deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, as his running mate for the election.

Referencing a popular lecture he delivered in 2017, Soludo remarked, “If it is not broken, why mend it? I am proud to renominate Dr. Onyeka Ibezim as my deputy governorship candidate. The battle has only begun.”
He further assured supporters of a landslide victory, expressing confidence that APGA would sweep all 21 local government areas and 326 wards across the state.
