Their remains were discovered last weekend near the border between Ondo and Ekiti States.
Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, disclosed that the landlord, identified as Abah John Friday, allegedly instructed a group of suspected cultists to punish one of the students for what he perceived as disrespect. This directive reportedly led to the abduction and eventual murder of both students.
During a press briefing, the police commissioner explained that the investigation began after a petition was submitted by Mr. Emmanuel Peter of Shagari Village, Akure. He reported the disappearance of his younger brother, 25-year-old John Friday Abba, and his friend, 19-year-old Andrel Eloho Okah, who both went missing on June 20, 2025.
The Anti Kidnapping Squad, supported by forensic analysis, traced an iPhone 14 Pro Max belonging to one of the students to Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos.
The phone was found in the possession of a 38-year-old man, Abdul Mohammed Mubarak, who admitted to purchasing it from another individual, Ojo Michael, later arrested in Aramoko Ekiti. A Lexus RX 350 car owned by the victims was also recovered during the arrest.
Under questioning, Michael confessed to taking part in the robbery, abduction, and murder of the two students.
He claimed the plot was orchestrated by Oladele Femi, the landlord of one of the victims, who recruited him and an accomplice identified only as “Kola,” who remains at large.
Further investigation revealed that the sum of eight hundred thousand naira was withdrawn from one of the victims’ bank accounts while they were held captive.
Michael also confessed to s3xually assaulting the female victim before killing her.
He told police that she was murdered because she recognized him and could identify her attackers. Both victims were ultimately killed to prevent them from exposing the perpetrators.
Their bodies were discarded in separate locations between Agbado and Ode Ekiti.
Following these revelations, the police arrested Oladele Femi, who admitted to planning the attack and helping to cover up the crime. Acting on his confession, officers recovered the body of the female victim from a bush near Ode Ekiti.

Her remains have been taken to the General Hospital mortuary for autopsy. Efforts are ongoing to locate the body of the male victim, believed to have been thrown into a nearby river.
“This case stands as a tragic reminder of the brutality of premeditated crimes and the devastating consequences of betrayal and greed,” Lawal stated. “The victims, young and promising undergraduates, were senselessly raped and murdered in cold blood. The command will ensure all those involved are brought to justice.”
In a separate development, the Commissioner announced the arrest of a notorious cultist and long-wanted fugitive linked to several violent cult-related attacks, including murder, in Ondo town and surrounding areas.
Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives arrested 28-year-old Muhammed Taofeeq, a known member of the proscribed Alora Confraternity. He was apprehended at his hideout in Ile-Oluji, where he had been in hiding since evading earlier arrest attempts.
