- Accuses ADC of taking advantage of national grief
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has criticized the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over its claim that President Bola Tinubu is exploiting the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari for political advantage.
Eko Hot Blog reports the APC dismissed the accusation as baseless, irresponsible, and distasteful, stating that the President’s participation in memorial events and delivery of tributes reflected sincere loyalty and a sense of national duty.

In a statement released on Saturday, APC Lagos spokesperson Seye Oladejo condemned the ADC’s remarks, describing them as deeply disrespectful.
He emphasized that the late Buhari should be honored with respect and not turned into a subject of political controversy.
“It is unfortunate that the ADC, in its desperate search for relevance, has chosen to trivialize a period of national mourning just to generate media attention,” Oladejo said.
“President Tinubu’s relationship with President Buhari was grounded in mutual respect, shared democratic ideals, and a commitment to national development. His participation in memorial events and heartfelt tributes reflect statesmanship, not opportunism.”

Oladejo further noted that the ADC’s attempt to politicize a solemn national moment reveals how out of touch the party is with the mood of the nation. He accused the ADC of taking advantage of national grief to stir unnecessary division and provoke tension.
“Rather than show empathy, the ADC has resorted to cheap political theatrics. This is not only hypocritical but also dishonest, especially coming from a party with little electoral significance,” he stated.
The APC also called on the ADC to issue an unreserved apology to the family of the late President, the Nigerian public, and the Presidency, stressing that national unity should take priority over partisan conflict.
“At a time when what the country needs most is unity, not divisiveness, we urge Nigerians to ignore such irresponsible commentary.
“We will not condone any further acts of disrespect toward the memory of a national icon. President Tinubu remains focused on governance, security, economic recovery, and preserving the legacies of those who served this country with honour,” the statement read.
