EKO HOT BLOG reports that Prince Al-Waleed fell into a coma in 2005 at the age of 18 following a car accident in London while studying at a military college. The accident caused a severe brain haemorrhage, and he was flown back to Saudi Arabia, where he remained on life support at the King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh.
His death was confirmed by his father, Prince Khaled bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, in a message shared on social media. “With hearts believing in Allah’s will and decree, and with deep sorrow and sadness, we mourn our beloved son,” he wrote on X.
Despite being unresponsive for most of the last 20 years, Prince Al-Waleed occasionally showed slight physical reactions, such as moving his fingers or blinking, giving his family and followers glimpses of hope. Over the years, his condition drew widespread public interest across the kingdom and internationally.
Prince Khaled had been known for his steadfast refusal to withdraw life support, choosing instead to maintain his son’s treatment and care in the hope of a recovery. His devotion inspired many Saudis, and the prince’s rare responses were often shared online, stirring emotional reactions from followers.

Medical specialists from around the world were consulted over the years, but the Prince never regained consciousness.
