EKO HOT BLOG reports that his comments follow the arrival of winger Noni Madueke from Chelsea, making him the eighth player to switch from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates since Arteta took charge. While the move has stirred mixed reactions among Arsenal supporters especially after Raheem Sterling’s underwhelming loan spell last season Arteta stood firm on his recruitment approach.
“Probably because they have some great players, and a lot of players,” Arteta said when asked about his preference for Chelsea stars. “We try to focus on the players we want to sign regardless of the club. With Noni, very excited. He needs a break now, but he will be with us soon, showing what he is going to bring to the team.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s pursuit of a new striker appears to be progressing. The club is reportedly in advanced talks to sign Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres for £63 million. Negotiations are said to be ongoing over the structure of add-ons, with Sporting pushing for easily activated clauses.

Arteta, who spoke after arriving in Singapore for the club’s pre-season tour, remained reserved about the Gyokeres deal. “I cannot comment on any player who is not part of our group yet,” he said, but acknowledged the need to strengthen. “There’s still time in the window. In terms of numbers, we are short.”
