EKO HOT BLOG reports that the move, confirmed by several state chapters, comes as mass registration of both new and returning members intensifies across the country.
At the APC’s 14th National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja, President Tinubu emphasised the need for grassroots mobilisation and party expansion. He revealed plans to set up a committee involving party elders and National Working Committee members to drive registration across states.
According to Sunday PUNCH findings, 11 states have pledged a combined 15.2 million votes, with Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Benue, Oyo, Ekiti, and others already initiating online registration. Ebonyi APC, for instance, has launched an online portal to register members at ward level, while Delta State is processing thousands of former PDP members following Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s defection.
In the North Central, six million votes were promised in appreciation of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda’s emergence as APC National Chairman. Akwa Ibom is targeting 3.5 million votes, Edo aims for 2.5 million, Benue pledges two million, and both Oyo and Ekiti commit a combined 1.2 million.
New APC Chairman Yilwatda confirmed the party would focus on expansion and unity, stating they would “do the legwork” to attract more defectors. Party leaders across states echoed the President’s call, stressing the urgency of consolidating membership and strengthening the APC’s grassroots base.

In Enugu and Bayelsa, party officials said registration would commence once final directives are received from the national secretariat. Meanwhile, the APC’s digital portal remains active for ongoing registration nationwide.
