P0rofessor Dhikurullah Yagboyaju has been approved as the executive director for the Yoruba Academy. This was announced on Thursday after a joint meeting between the Board of Trustees and members of the Governing Board of the respected Think Tank Body.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the goal of the Academy is to preserve the indigenous traditions, values, languages of the Yoruba race from extinction with the focus of fostering balance between the private and public sectors and private institutions where both can progress to bring further growth to Nigeria.

Dhikurullah Yagboyaju is a professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Ibadan where he has taught for over two decades.
He is also a prolific author and his works has made significant contributions to the field of political science especially in Development Administration and Policy and Strategic Studies.
In 2023, Yagboyaju was bestowed an award by the duo of Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD), United Kingdom and National Institute for Legislative & Democratic Studies (NILDS) on his paper ” Baseline Study of Political Parties in Nigeria & Development of Assessment Tool (Nigeria Open Political Party Project).
The Yoruba Academy is a nonprofit organization founded in Ibadan, October 2007 to champion the growth and development of the Yoruba culture and traditions through collaborations with academia, policymakers, and experts across several fields such as science, technology, education amongst others.
The meeting was attended by members of the Board of Trustees as well as the Governing Board. Present at the meeting was Olawale Oshun, the chairman of the BoT and the chairman of the Tink Tank Body, Professor Lai Olurode.
Other notable members who were present at the meeting included Chief(Mrs) Jumoke Anifowose-Ajasin, Prince Oyewole Oyetunji, and Dr. Moreni Tafita
The new DG in his acceptance remarks vowed full commitment to propelling the mission of the Yoruba Academy. He emphasized his dedication to maintaining its ideals specially Yoruba civilization further enriching scientific and technological development and sustaining the customs and cultural heritage of the Yoruba people.
