According to Lawal, the victim was misled under the guise of being helped to launch an online business but was later abandoned upon arriving in Nigeria.
Further investigation revealed that several members of the group either possessed expired international passports or lacked valid travel documents entirely, breaching Nigerian immigration and anti-human trafficking laws.
The matter has since been handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further action.
In a separate case, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Olayinka Olushola Ayanlade, confirmed the arrest of one Adeife Adewumi, a native of Idanre residing in Mokola, Ibadan. .He was found in possession of a stolen motorcycle belonging to a 25-year-old man, Nwike Sabbat, who was murdered during an armed robbery on July 29, 2025, in Ondo City.

Following Adewumi’s confession, the Tactical Intelligence Response Squad (TIRS), under the leadership of its commander, carried out an intelligence-driven raid around 2:00 a.m. in Ilaramokin, Ifedore Local Government Area.
The operation led to the arrest of two additional suspects: Johnson Mathew, 24, from Osogbo, Osun State, and Disu Sunday from Ekiti State. Both are residents of Ilaramokin and reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crime.
Items recovered from the suspects included two locally made cut-to-size firearms, one live cartridge, and one used cartridge.
