President Bola Tinubu has nominated Engr Abdullahi Garba Ramat to serve as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
Eko Hot Blog reports that Ramat, 39, is an electrical engineer and administrator who holds a PhD in Strategic Management, along with other academic and professional credentials.

According to a statement released by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the President also put forward two additional nominees for commissioner roles within the regulatory body. Mr Abubakar Yusuf was nominated as Commissioner for Consumer Affairs, while Dr Fouad Olayinka Animashun was nominated as Commissioner for Finance and Management Services.

These nominations are subject to Senate confirmation.
To avoid a leadership gap, President Tinubu has directed Engr Ramat to assume office in an acting capacity, pending Senate screening and confirmation, in accordance with legal provisions.
The President encouraged the nominees to apply their expertise toward advancing the administration’s goals for the power sector.
