As part of activities marking the 25th anniversary of the National Women’s Conference (NWC), the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) organized a simultaneous environmental clean-up exercise across Lagos State, reaffirming its commitment to a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment.

The event united government officials, community leaders, market executives, sanitation officers, and youth groups in a shared effort to promote environmental consciousness.
The First Lady of Lagos State and COWLSO Chairperson, Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, was represented by the Wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, who led the event with poise and dedication.
In her remarks, she commended the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. (Princess) Surah Olayemi Animashaun, FHTI, for her exceptional leadership in sanitation efforts, stating that “Epe remains one of the neatest local governments in Lagos State.”
Representing the Executive Chairman were Hon. Sikiru Adeniyi Owolomoshe (Vice Chairman) and Hon. Tunde Odupe (Chief of Staff), whose presence underscored the administration’s strong support for community-driven development.
Welcoming the COWLSO delegation, Hon. Owolomoshe said, “We are grateful for your choice of Epe as a host location and we look forward to collaborating on more developmental initiatives that will benefit our people.”
Chief (Mrs.) Giwa, Iya Oloja of Oluwo Market and Vice Chairperson of the Epe Division Council of Markets, expressed gratitude to the COWLSO team for their visit.
“This exercise will not only beautify our market but also open doors for more development. We will continue to sustain the cleanliness culture promoted by the Chairman’s administration,” she affirmed.
The event turned Oluwo Market into a model of unity and environmental responsibility. Beyond sanitation, it celebrated the power of women-led initiatives in driving community progress.
Participating agencies and groups included LAWMA, the Epe Local Government Sanitation and Environmental Department led by Mrs. Ayeni, the Nigeria Police Force (Epe Command), PSOA Group, and Ileri-Oluwa Ladies.
As COWLSO celebrates 25 years of impactful service, the Epe exercise stands as a testament to what is possible when visionary leadership meets grassroots collaboration.
