Labour Party (LP) chieftains and stakeholders have met to map out strategies ahead of the 2027 general elections, adopting key resolutions to strengthen the party’s operations and political influence.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the meeting, held virtually on Thursday, August 7, was confirmed in a statement released Friday by Ken Asogwa, Senior Special Adviser (Media) to the party’s Interim National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman.
Asogwa noted that the session was attended by prominent party leaders across the country.
According to the statement, participants reaffirmed their commitment to deepening democratic ideals and strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions. The meeting also passed a unanimous vote of confidence in Senator Nenadi Usman’s leadership, praising her stewardship since assuming the interim chairmanship.
“At a virtual expanded meeting of key stakeholders of the Labour Party held on Thursday, 7th August 2025, the leadership of the party adopted far-reaching resolutions, including a vote of confidence in Senator Nenadi Usman and a renewed commitment to initiatives that will sustain the tenets of democracy in Nigeria,” the statement read.

The meeting drew high-profile attendees, including 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi; Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti; Interim National Chairman Senator Nenadi Usman; Interim National Secretary Senator Darlington Nwokocha; 2023 Lagos governorship candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour; Deputy National Chairman Mohammed Usman Misau; Deputy National Chairman Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku; Abia State Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu; Senator Victor Umeh; Senator Okey Ezea; former acting LP national chairman Maria Labeke; Lagos LP Interim Chairman Rotimi Odunaike; former NBA president Olumide Akpata; BOT member PA Lawson Osagie, and representatives of the NLC and TUC.
