EKO HOT BLOG reports that Sowore announced his release on Friday night through his verified social media accounts, hours after regaining freedom. He also addressed his supporters live on Facebook, expressing gratitude for their solidarity throughout his detention.
In his post, Sowore said: “Nigeria Police Force has capitulated to the demands of the revolutionary movement. I have been released from unjust, illegal, and unwarranted detention. However, it is nothing to celebrate, but thank you for not giving up! #RevolutionNow.”
The activist’s release comes amid ongoing legal proceedings over allegations of treason, which stalled earlier in the week. A new date for the case is expected to be set by the court.

Sowore, who contested the 2019 presidential election under the African Action Congress (AAC), has been a vocal critic of successive Nigerian governments and is known for leading the #RevolutionNow protests calling for political and economic reforms. His arrest and detention have consistently drawn criticism from human rights groups and pro-democracy advocates.
