The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has introduced improved wheelchair assistance and special support services for passengers with disabilities, the elderly, and others who require mobility aid at airports across the country.
Eko Hot Blog reports that according to the authority, the initiative is aimed at ensuring dignity, safety, and comfort for all categories of travellers.

Announcing the development on Monday in a statement on X (formerly Twitter), FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, explained that wheelchair services will now be available from check-in through boarding and upon arrival.

“Wheelchair services are provided from check-in through boarding and on arrival. Dedicated staff are available to offer guidance and support, while priority is given at security checks and boarding gates,” the statement read in part.
She further revealed that accessible facilities, including restrooms and elevators, have been installed in terminals to make air travel more convenient.
Orah also encouraged passengers who require assistance to notify their airline or airport staff in advance or make their request at the special assistance desk upon arrival.
