- Garnacho Joins Chelsea, Nicolas Jackson Angry After Loan Deal Collapsed
- Nicolas Jackson’s loan to Bayern collapsed after Delap’s injury.
- Jackson now expected to lead Chelsea in Champions League clash.
Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United in a deal worth £40 million.
The 21-year-old has signed a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge running until 2032, making him one of the marquee arrivals in manager Enzo Maresca’s new-look squad.

“It’s an incredible moment for my family and I to join this great club,” Garnacho told Chelsea’s official website. “I can’t wait to get started. I watched the Club World Cup and to join the world champions is special, we’re the best team in the world!”
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Garnacho, who broke into Manchester United’s senior team in 2022, made 144 appearances and scored 26 goals before completing his switch to Chelsea. His move is seen as a major coup for the Blues, given his age and long-term potential.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have halted Nicolas Jackson’s proposed loan move to Bayern Munich. The striker had travelled to Germany for a medical, but the club revoked permission for the £13m deal after Liam Delap suffered a hamstring injury during the 2-0 win over Fulham earlier on August 30.
According to BBC Sport, Jackson is frustrated by the collapse of the transfer and is described as “angry” at the late decision. Both Chelsea and Bayern, however, are expected to revisit discussions in the coming days.
Speaking after the Fulham game, Maresca admitted he was caught off guard by the situation. “I just finished the game, came here and have no idea. We’re going to sit now and we’ll see. Honestly, I have no idea. When you have two strikers, it’s enough. When one of them is injured for different weeks, probably it’s not enough,” he said.
Chelsea are set to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League on September 17. Jackson, who was expected to line up for the German side, is now likely to lead Chelsea’s attack in the crucial fixture.
