Tiwa Savage said that the title comes with expectations and responsibilities she is not fully willing to take on. “Yeah, they call me the Queen of Afrobeats, but there are a lot of us that are Queens,” she explained. She expressed that accepting the tag would require humility and a deeper sense of accountability she is not ready to claim. “Personally, I don’t like that tag, it’s uncomfortable because I feel like if I start accepting it, I need to be humble and secondly, it doesn’t make sense to me.”

Despite her reservations, Tiwa acknowledged the recognition as a mark of respect and appreciation for her role in the music industry, especially as one of the pioneers who helped shape the Afrobeats scene globally. “I do appreciate that. I’m not taking it for granted,” she added.
Tiwa’s views shed light on her belief in collective progress for female artists, highlighting that many women in the industry deserve equal credit for the success of Afrobeats worldwide. She champions unity over rivalry, encouraging a spirit of mutual respect and collaboration rather than individual accolades.
By refusing to accept the title outright, Tiwa Savage emphasizes the importance of humility and shared achievements in an industry often dominated by labels and competition. Her stance reflects a maturity that resonates with fans who admire her not only for her music but also for her grounded approach to fame and recognition.
