Addressing the historic gathering, the president likened the nation’s recent hardship to “a painful surgery,” but said the sacrifices endured by Nigerians were now yielding results.
“Your suffering has been as painful to us as a painful surgery. But the economy has now returned to a moment of growth and prosperity. There is a bright light at the end of the tunnel,” Tinubu stated, while thanking citizens for their perseverance.
The president also paid tribute to Oba Ladoja, describing the monarch, a former governor of Oyo State as both a respected businessman and leader whose ascension to the throne bridges politics, tradition, and history.

The coronation drew thousands to the ancient city, marking the first time a former state governor has been installed as Olubadan.
Tinubu also used the occasion to recall Ibadan’s pivotal role in his presidential campaign, noting: “I once came to Oke Mopo to seek your support to tell you ‘Emi lo’kan’ (it’s my turn), and now we are there. Thank you very much.”
