ICT Agency says the project also digitises governance and boosts inclusion.
The Anambra State Information and Communication Technology Agency has activated 25 live WiFi hotspots across the state as part of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s digitisation programme.
The Managing Director of the agency, Fred Agbata, announced this during a meeting with members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Awka on Friday.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Agbata explained that the initiative, tagged Solution WiFi, is a key part of Soludo’s “People’s Manifesto”, which pledged to provide affordable and ultimately free internet access in public places, schools, student lodges, government institutions, and open spaces.
“These hotspots are not just infrastructure; they are lifelines,” Agbata said. “They democratise internet access for students, traders, civil servants, and everyday Ndi Anambra, bridging information divides and fostering inclusion.”
He listed some of the active locations as Aroma Junction, Eke Awka, UNIZIK Junction (Temp Site), Solution Arena, State House of Assembly, Jerome Udorji Secretariat, Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, and the College of Health, Obosi, among others.
Agbata further highlighted that the ICT Agency is not only improving connectivity but also reshaping governance in Anambra. According to him, executive council proceedings that were previously paper-based have now been fully digitised, while ministries, departments, and agencies have adopted smarter digital platforms for faster operations.
He said the digital push also builds on other reforms such as the Right of Way (RoW) waiver to encourage ICT investment, adding that the goal is to make Anambra a smart, liveable, and prosperous megacity.
“The story of Anambra’s digital transformation is still unfolding, but the foundation has been laid,” he stated. “From the visible footprint of Solution WiFi to the digitisation of governance, what we are building under Governor Soludo is a future where technology truly works for the people.”
Agbata called on the media to continue spotlighting the initiative, stressing that their role in shaping narratives, holding leaders accountable, and amplifying citizens’ voices remains vital to the success of the project.
