LASG Partners With A Foundation In Youth Empowerment Programme
-By Ibrahim Kegbegbe
The Lagos State Ministry of Youths and Social Development, Alausa, Ikeja in conjunction with Al-Abrar Innovation Technology (AJT) issues satisfactory certificates to the participants of free computer training organised by the ministry and the foundation.
Imam Adam Raji, the chairman of Al-Abrar Foundation, said Al-Abrar Innovation Technology is an organization created from Al-Abrar Foundation for the purpose of empowering the youths with innovative ideas and ensuring that social creativity are brought to the community of Isheri-Igando, Lagos, without religiously biased.
He said that the foundation has been engaging in humanitarian services for Muslims; Christians and pagans, for the past eleven years, noting that Ministry of Youths and Social Development has been assisting the foundation for well execution of the empowerment.
Adam Raji reiterated this while issuing the certificate of completion of training to the beneficiaries on the 11th January, 2020.
“We the members of Al-Abrar Foundation appreciate Lagos State Government for their assistance. The parents of most of the beneficiaries are not helping their wards financially. So, some of the participants would have left the training if the Ministry of Youths and Social Development had not come to our aid,” he said.
Alhaja Oluwatoyin Agoro, the representative from the Ministry of Youths and Social Development, said the present government of Lagos State loves empowering the youths that is the reason the ministry has shown interest in supporting the Al-Abrar Foundation to achieve its objective.
“I am very happy that the chairman and other members of the foundation have been judiciously utilising the funds and other benefits from the ministry,” she said.
Alhaji Abdul Rasak Abdul Azeez, the lecturer at the program, said the topic before him is: “Youths and the Challenges of the 21st Century”. He moved further, however, to say that he would prefer the topic to be: “Society and its Challenges”. He said he had changed the topic because the youths are the society and the society belongs to the youths.
Abdul Azeez said one of the Challenges that the youths face is inability to have dream and work towards its achievement. He told the youths that all the prophets of God had dream, noting that prophet Yusuf (Joseph) had dream and his dream was later accomplished despite the fact that he went through some challenges. So, he urged the youths to have dream and work towards it with divine intervention.
“Our parents are to be guiding us and we are not to be controlled by them. Most youths could not achieve their dreams because their parents dictated their ways for them,” he said.
The graduands are 32 in numbers but those that came for their certificates were 29.
