Eko Hot Blog reports that Dangote had petitioned the ICPC against Farouk Ahmed, former Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, alleging corruption and abuse of office.

The News Agency of Nigeria quoted a source within the commission as confirming the development on Sunday in Abuja, stating that the ICPC has constituted a special panel to investigate the allegations contained in the petition.
According to the source, the Chairman of the Commission, Dr Musa Aliyu, SAN, directed the panel to give priority attention to Dangote’s petition as the investigation formally commences.
Dangote is expected to honour the invitation in person or appear through his lawyer, Ogwu Onoja, SAN, and submit evidence to support the allegations.
In the petition, the industrialist accused Ahmed of corruption and misappropriation of public funds, alleging that the former regulator spent millions of dollars on the education of his four children in exclusive schools in Switzerland without evidence of lawful income.

Dangote also alleged that Ahmed undermined domestic refining efforts by colluding with international oil traders and fuel importers through the continued issuance of petroleum import licences.
The ICPC has formally requested Dangote to submit all relevant documents and materials in his possession to aid the investigation.
Although Farouk Ahmed has since resigned his appointment, the commission said the development does not affect the ongoing probe, stressing that resignation does not extinguish criminal liability.
The petition further alleged that Ahmed spent over $7 million on the education of his children in Switzerland, an amount the petitioner said could not be justified by his legitimate earnings as a public servant.
Dangote is seeking the arrest, investigation and prosecution of the former NMDPRA chief for allegedly living above his means while in office.
Confirming the petition, the ICPC’s spokesperson, Mr John Okor Odey, said the commission received a formal petition from Dangote, through his lawyer, on 16 December 2025, against the former head of the NMDPRA.
