The Federal Government of Nigeria and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) are set to formalise a landmark agreement aimed at promoting industrial harmony, improving teaching and learning conditions, and advancing sustainable development within the country’s university system.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Official Unveiling Ceremony for the agreement is scheduled for Wednesday, 14th January, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., and will take place at the Conference Hall of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), No. 6 Zambezi Crescent, Maitama, Abuja.

The ceremony will be presided over by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, FAmeds, alongside the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad.
The event marks a significant milestone in the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to ensure a stable and globally competitive higher education sector.
The agreement is expected to strengthen collaboration between the government and university staff, foster industrial peace, and create a more conducive environment for academic work.
