The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has released the results of the written examination for candidates seeking appointment as Permanent Secretaries in the Federal Civil Service.
Out of 25 participants, 14 candidates passed the first stage of the process and will proceed to the next phase.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the next stage is an Information and Communication Technology proficiency test scheduled for Wednesday, February 25, 2026. The assessment is designed to evaluate candidates’ digital competence, considered essential for leadership and management in a technology driven public service.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, stated that the examination process was conducted in a fair and competitive manner.
She said the exercise aligns with the Federal Government’s reform agenda aimed at strengthening the public service through professionalism, accountability and future readiness.
According to her, the selection process is merit based and structured to identify candidates with proven competence, integrity and strategic vision to lead the Federal Civil Service.
She assured citizens that fairness and transparency would continue to guide every stage of the exercise, in line with the government’s commitment to public service renewal.
In a related development, the Federal Government directed that salaries of federal civil servants who failed to complete the nationwide verification and skills assessment exercise will be suspended from March 2026.
The decision followed the conclusion of the Personnel Audit and Skills Gap Analysis conducted across the Federal Civil Service.

The directive was contained in an official memo issued by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and signed by Walson-Jack.
