The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects over alleged transnational drug smuggling and recovered 197 sachets of Tramadol during a border patrol operation.
The arrest was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to the statement, the Command, “in its ongoing fight against drug trafficking and trans-border crimes… recorded a significant breakthrough with the arrest of two suspects in possession of One Hundred and Ninety-Seven (197) sachets of Tramadol.”
The suspects were identified as Muhammad Mustapha, 32, of Dorayi in Kano State, and Muhammad Sanusi, 48, of Garoua in the Republic of Cameroon.
They were “intercepted by operatives of the Border Patrol Fufore Unit, during an operation,” the statement added.
Preliminary investigation, according to the Command, “reveals that the illicit substances were transported from a South-Eastern state and were being conveyed through Adamawa State with the intention of smuggling them into the Republic of Cameroon before they were intercepted.”
The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, “commended the personnel of the Border Patrol Unit for their vigilance and Professionalism,” and directed “the Command CP’s Monitoring Unit to take over the case for diligent investigation and further necessary action.”
The Command said it “remains resolute in its commitment to ridding the state of drug-related and illicit crimes.”
In December 2025, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency reported seizing 1,396.5kg of narcotics and arresting 150 suspects in Adamawa.
The NDLEA Commander in the state, Aliyu Abubakar, said, “In the series of coordinated intelligence-driven operations across the state, including the Airport, we have recorded landmark success, dismantling drug joints and intercepting deadly consignments.
“We seized 353kg of cannabis sativa, 983 kg of Tramadol and 60.500 kg of other opioids.”

He added that two vehicles linked to alleged drug offences were also seized, while the command secured six convictions, has 53 pending cases in court, and counselled and rehabilitated 39 persons arrested for drug abuse.
