In a move aimed at strengthening grassroots security and promoting environmental sustainability, the Executive Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Monsuru Akinloye, has provided critical operational support to the Nigeria Forest Guard, Eredo Chapter, and the Golden Ten Group (G10), a community-based environmental organization renowned for its sanitation activities across the council area.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the presentation ceremony, which underscored the administration’s commitment to community development, security enhancement and environmental protection, was conducted on behalf of the Chairman by the Vice Chairman of Eredo LCDA, Hon. Lateef Adesanya.
Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Adesanya reiterated the council administration’s determination to continue investing in initiatives that improve the welfare, safety and living conditions of residents across Eredo LCDA.
As part of the support package, a security motorcycle was officially handed over to the Nigeria Forest Guard, Eredo Chapter, to strengthen its operational capacity and improve its ability to respond swiftly to security concerns within forests and remote communities.
The motorcycle is expected to enhance patrol operations, improve surveillance activities and facilitate rapid response to incidents involving illegal logging, criminal hideouts, environmental violations and other unlawful activities that may threaten the safety of residents and natural resources within the council area.
Representatives of the Forest Guard expressed appreciation to the council administration, noting that the equipment would significantly improve their effectiveness in carrying out their responsibilities.
According to them, mobility remains a critical component of security operations, particularly in forested and difficult-to-access areas where criminal elements often attempt to exploit challenging terrain to evade detection.
The Vice Chairman emphasized that security remains one of the major priorities of the current administration, stressing that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and safety.
He noted that the support aligns with the Chairman’s broader vision of building a secure environment where residents can pursue their daily activities without fear or intimidation.
“Security is a collective responsibility. As a government, we recognize the sacrifices being made by security personnel and community-based security organizations. This motorcycle is intended to strengthen their operations and support their efforts in safeguarding lives, property and our natural resources.”
In the same vein, the council also presented a slasher mower to the Golden Ten Group (G10), a respected non-governmental organization that has distinguished itself through voluntary environmental sanitation exercises across communities within Eredo LCDA.
Over the years, the group has consistently organized community clean-up programmes, cleared overgrown vegetation and participated in environmental awareness campaigns aimed at promoting cleaner and healthier surroundings.
The equipment is expected to enhance the organization’s efficiency and expand the scope of its environmental intervention programmes across the council area.
Commending the group for its selfless service, Hon. Adesanya described the members of G10 as development partners whose dedication to environmental cleanliness has contributed immensely to public health and community well-being.
“The Golden Ten Group has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to environmental sanitation and community service. Their activities have positively impacted numerous communities across Eredo LCDA, and this administration considers it necessary to support and encourage such noble initiatives.”
He further stated that environmental sustainability remains an essential component of the council’s development agenda, noting that clean environments help prevent disease outbreaks, improve public health and create more attractive communities for residents and investors alike.
Beneficiaries of the equipment expressed gratitude to the council leadership for recognizing their contributions and providing the tools needed to improve their operations.
They pledged to make effective use of the motorcycle and slasher mower in the discharge of their respective responsibilities while reaffirming their commitment to serving the people of Eredo LCDA.
Residents and community leaders who witnessed the presentation commended the council administration for supporting organizations that contribute directly to community security and environmental development.
Many described the gesture as a demonstration of responsive leadership and a practical approach to addressing local challenges through strategic partnerships.
The presentation of the security motorcycle and slasher mower further highlights the administration’s commitment to strengthening security architecture, empowering community-based organizations and promoting sustainable development across Eredo LCDA.
As the council continues to invest in initiatives that enhance public safety and environmental sustainability, stakeholders have expressed optimism that such interventions will contribute significantly to the overall growth, peace and development of communities throughout Eredo LCDA.
