The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Biodun Oyebanji, as the winner of the Ekiti State governorship election held on Saturday.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Oyebanji secured re-election after polling a total of 319,224 votes across the 16 local government areas of the state, defeating his closest challengers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olumayokun Oluyede, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dare Bejide.

The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Adenike Oladiji, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, announced the result in the early hours of Sunday at the INEC collation centre located on Iyin Road, Ado-Ekiti.

She declared that Oyebanji met all legal requirements and was duly returned elected as governor.
According to the final results, the APC recorded 319,224 votes, while the PDP polled 40,533 votes and the ADC secured 12,872 votes.
INEC figures showed that out of 988,251 registered voters, 384,940 were accredited for the election. A total of 382,109 votes were cast, with 375,777 votes deemed valid.

The election also revealed that Oyebanji maintained strong support across the state, including in opposition strongholds.
In Efon Local Government Area, the home base of the PDP candidate, the APC polled 8,742 votes, while the PDP secured 2,051 votes, placing second in the area.
With the outcome, Oyebanji retains his position as governor after meeting the constitutional requirements and winning the highest number of valid votes cast.
