Commissioner Calls On Youths To Embrace Agriculture

The Honourable Commissioner, Lagos State Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, Mrs. Yetunde Arobieke, has called on the youth population to embrace Agriculture business as a means of empowerment and self-dependence in view of the economic situation in the country.

Speaking on Friday at a mentorship seminar organised by the Lagos State government for youths, with the theme “Agricpreneur: Strategy for Wealth Creation”, the Commissioner said the workshop was one of the numerous strategies being deployed by the Ministry to reduce the unemployment rate among residents, especially the youth population.

She challenged the youths to channel their vigour, strength, intellect and energy to profitable ventures rather than engage in frivolities.

Arobieke said there is a need to make the participants at the seminar understand the intricacies involved in the Agric business, in addition to the need for a good management strategy.

She called on private development partners to encourage Agripreneurs and make Agricultural information more available to young and promising practitioners.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Boladele Dapo-Thomas urged the youths to leverage the huge opportunities in the agricultural sector to earn a decent living.
