LASG Set To Induct 2,000 Public Servants
The Director-General, Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Dr Olufunmi Ajose-Harrison at the weekend unveiled plans by the centre to induct about 2,000 civil servants recruited by the state government who are yet to be inducted into the service.
He said the PSSDC now had backlog to deal with and would urgently do it in batches in order to fully equip such recruits to fit properly into the system.
Ajose-Harrison made this disclosure at the closing ceremony of four training programmes organised by the institution for different cadres of Lagos State public servants.
He said the PSSDC had initiated the process of upgrading its facilities with state-of-the-art equipment, stressing that the institution’s current priority was to increase the number of new inductees being trained from 150 to 250 people, a feat that would be achieved through its Learning Management System.
Ajose-Harrison reaffirmed the institution’s capabilities and relevance in the training and retraining of Public Servants for efficient and effective service delivery, saying PSSDC remained a 21st-century training institution.
He assured that the institution would continue to remain relevant in capacity building and competition with other institutions globally, hinging his optimism on the quantum of support that the current administration has extended towards upgrading PSSDC into a Public Service University.

The Director-General reiterated that the State Government had put a premium on the training of its workforce so that they could align with the six development pillars of the administration, assuring that a conducive environment exists for capacity building and scientific research.
