Hotel Management Reacts to Death of Two Workers in Poka, Epe

Epe residents had called on the attention of party leaders, Local GOVERNMENT & Local Council Development Area on the attending hardships this pandemic has brought on the indigenes and ways of ameliorating the effects.

Sadly enough, there has been a hundred percent hike in the prices of foodstuffs most particularly Garri which remains our staple food in Epe and its environs.

A market survey last week at the Mojoda market in Eredo LCDA showed that an ‘igbaja’ was sold between N1500 and N1700 against old price of N1200. The same measurement skyrocketed to N2500 yesterday at same market bringing serious untold experiences on the poor consumers.

Similarly, foodstuffs were very costly at the popular Epe Ero Market in Epe and many indigent consumers could not afford to stock staples at will. Basic food items such as dried-fish, palm oil, rice, beans etc went beyond the reach of the common man.

We should not allow the trend to continue most especially in this period of ‘stay-at-home’ order in the bid to curtail the spread of this deadly virus. However, there is no hike in the fuel price to justify these hardships on ourselves.

The instruments at your disposal can salvage these self-inflicted problems.

Much obliged if you can give this urgent attention and necessary actions it deserves.
