Dangote And His Machines Of Death Along Epe Lekki Road
The spates of deadly accidents involving Dangote Trucks plying Epe Lekki Road is getting worrisome and something must be done to curb the excesses and reckless attitude of Dangote truck drivers.
In what has been a usual occurrence along Epe Lekki Road, another tragedy struck on Tuesday as Dangote Cement truck claimed the lives of six persons instantly and one trapped.
The accident involving Dangote cement truck and a commercial taxi carrying seven passengers occurred at midnight along Epe expressway after the long bridge.
The taxi, an OPEL car with registration number SMK312ES was said to be moving inwards Epe when the accident occurred.
At the time of this report, one of the passengers was said to be trapped underneath the crushed vehicle with officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) making efforts to bring him out alive.
Confirming the incident, the Director-General (DG) LASEMA Dr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu said the six people died on impact or shortly afterwards.
“Investigations revealed that a total of 7 people were in the crushed car with 6 of them having lost their lives on or shortly after the impact while efforts are ongoing by the response team to extricate the single adult man who is alive but remains trapped beneath the silo truck.
“Recovery operation ongoing. The deceased will be transported to the mortuary for processing,” he said in a statement around 12:16am.”
Recall a prominent chief from Epe and his family members lost their lives in an accident involving Dangote sometimes last year.
This online news platform further spoke with a prominent chief of Epe Kingdom (name withheld) who urged indigenes of Epe to wake from slumber and act fast.
“We cannot continue to watch our population being decimated by Dangote and his trucks all in the name of bringing development to our area.”
“This is time for action, we need to act fast now he concluded.”
