The Legacy Of Dr. Nurudeen Olowopopo

Dr. Nurudeen Olowopopo was a surgeon of class and style. He was the 1st chairman of the Management Board of Lagos State University lasuth, his strides impacted the lives of many positively.

That is why 10 years after his demise; his memory remains fresh in the hearts of those who knew him.

On 15th of March, 2020 Blessing hall, Eko club Surulere was the venue of the gathering of family members, friends, former colleagues and well-wishers of Late Dr Nurudeen Ademola Olowopopo who were in the mood of celebration; the celebration of a man who lived a life of simplicity, humility and for humanity.

It was an event to mark the 10th anniversary of the passage of the man who led many medical missions across the globe.

Notable among the guests the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu who was represented by a team of white cap chiefs, Oba of Elegushi, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, Aladeshonyin of Odo-Noforija, Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja, Oba Nelson Abayomi Ogunlari, the Olowu of Owu-Ikosi, Former deputy governor of Lagos state and the Senior Special Assistant on Sustainable Development Goals to President Buhari, Mrs Adejoke Adefulire. Senator Gbenga Ashafa, Hakeem Gbajabiamila, Mr Kayode Opeifa, Kunmi Fakeye, Ibukun Fakeye, Dr Femi Olugbile, Akeem Muri Okunola members of Eko club international and members of the Lagosians in Chicago, USA.

The event featured an Islamic prayer session followed by administration by Hakeem Kosoko.

Speaker after speaker described the late medical genius in glowing terms.

Ekohotblog spoke with Dr Olowopopo’s first child, Mrs Fausat Oshinusi and his son in law, Mr Rilwan Oshinusi.

Born September 15th 1943, Dr Nurudeen Ademola Olowopopo passed on at the age of 67 on the 14th of March, 2010 in Lagos.
