Coronavirus Lockdown: Taraba Couple Hold Wedding In Living Room
A couple in Taraba state, John Lawrence Ogwuche and Faith Nathaniel Odang have gone against all odds to have their wedding on Saturday, April 4th.
They held the mini occasion in their living room with only close members of their family in attendance as a way of abiding to the statewide restriction of movement and social gatherings due to coronavirus.
In his speech, the groom said weddings should be an occasion meant to celebrate true love and bonding between a man and woman and not an avenue for fundraising, crowd pulling or selfish interest.
He said marriage is an individual thing, agreement and divine arrangement by God.
“Yes, coronavirus is on its own and wedding is on its own. So, we decided to go ahead with our wedding not minding the coronavirus in the country. In the part of the country we had our wedding, we have not confirmed any case.

“It was because of precaution that the state was locked down and this is an occasion we have been planning for, a date has been fixed. So, I see no point postponing it because people are not going to attend among other issues. We don’t care, we had our wedding and our reception.”
“There are certain people that things in their lives don’t happen without a reason and I believed my wedding wouldn’t have been this popular if it hadn’t happened yesterday,” he added.
On 1 April, Taraba State government announced the banning of all public gatherings of more than 20 persons in the state.
The state government also ordered the closure of all markets with immediate effect, except those providing essential services such as; pharmacies, food stores and petrol service stations.
