Residents Faults Distribution Pattern Of Government Relief Food Items in Epe
Residents of Epe community have expressed concern over the pattern of sharing government relief food items by its representatives.
Residents complain in separate interviews with Eko Hot Blog’s, in Epe, on Thursday.
They attributed the sharing methods to political affiliations.
A resident, Mr Jide Tobun, told our reporter that the food items shared by Epe local government did not go down well and it did not go round the community.
He said that there was a misplaced of priority in the sharing.
According to the government directive, the targeted audience is the vulnerable ones but the reverse was the case here in the community.
“Most of the beneficiaries are party faithful, which is not supposed to be so, ” he said.
Tobun mentioned the beneficiaries of the relief materials, which include: the transport union, market women and political faithful.
He frowned at the councillor representing the riverine communities, in the person of Mrs Sherifat Haruna, adding that the rural dwellers are underrepresented.
He said that the representatives of the riverine community collected over 100 relief packs for the rural dwellers but the packs did not get to them in the waterside communities.

Also, Mr Demola Olufowobi, said that most of the vulnerable ones did not enjoy the privilege of government relief items.
“The food items only get to some part of the community which is small compared to where it’s supposed to reach.
Residents are not happy, as they are being denied the privilege of benefiting from the government relief items.
We need government at all level to come to our aid by giving a “door to door” food items, ” he said.
Miss Jumoke Kashamu, urged the federal government not to extend the lockdown beyond 14days to avoid domestic violence.
She said that most people are at the receiving end and may outburst any moment from now due to depression and frustration.
“The food package that the government gave out did not get to the targeted audience.
“People are lamenting at home due to financial constraints and lack foodstuff.
“If this lockdown continues suicide cases may increase, ” she said.
Mr Adebowale Michael, appeal to residents to exercise patience as the lockdown order is for our own good.
He commended Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the relief packages given to the vulnerable in the state.
He urged the government to improve on the sharing pattern in the next plans, in order to get to the right people.
