A grieving daughter identified as Laura Richards, aged thirty-two has collapsed and died while attending her mother’s funeral last week at Atherstone, Warwickshire.

Her mum identified as Julie Murphy, mother of four and aged sixty three was said to have had an underlying ailment and consequently fell victim to coronavirus.

Laura Richards was said to have suffered a heart attack as her mother was being lowered into the ground.

Relatives and the vicar were said to have tried to resuscitate Laura, but she sadly died at the scene of the funeral,

According to the Vicar, “Due to social distancing measures, the young woman was among just a handful of mourners allowed to partake in the burial service last week at Atherstone, Warwickshire.”

“Her mum, Julie who suffered from dementia and multiple sclerosis, died on March 15 after contracting coronavirus at her care home” he added.

Also, Laura’s half-sister Sadie, aged forty-five, described the double tragedy as a “horror film” and “wrong.”

She said further that as they were lowering her mother’s coffin into the ground, Laura complained of not being able to breathe.

“She was clutching her chest. My daughter told her to sit down, and put a coat around her but she could barely speak or catch her breath,” she said.

She continued, “Even the vicar tried to help save her life, but there was nothing that could be done. She had a massive heart attack.”

“To lose your sister at your mum’s funeral – it’s like a horror film. She was only 32. I think her body just gave up on her” said the Vicar.

“I can’t get my head around that it happened just as mum’s coffin was being lowered. It’s just horrible. It’s wrong” she replied.

A witness at the graveside incident told  The Sun reporter that “It really was horrendous – Julie was being laid to rest and her daughter started saying ‘my chest is tight, my chest is tight – I can’t breathe’.

She said further, “She stood on the tarmac, just to the side of the burial plot, and fell to the floor. She was on her side, clearly in distress.”

Warwickshire Police who confirmed the incident said that they received a call to the scene around 12.30pm on Tuesday, 31st March, 2020 to “concern for welfare” reports.

The spokesperson said “The woman was taken to hospital by the ambulance service but sadly later died. The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
