COVID-19: Desist From Violence, Wreckage, Onibeju Of Ibeju Warns Community Youths
The Onibeju of Ibejuland, Oba Olusegun Bamidele Salami, warned the youths in his jurisdiction to desist from violence, wreckage and all manners of rumours that can steer community unrest.
Eko Hot Blog Correspondent reports that early hour today, Monday, around 8:30 am, some youths in Eleko community in Ibeju lekki area, took to the street for a protest over lockdown amid a rumour of some of Dangote refinery workers having tested coronavirus positive.
Onibeju of Ibeju during an interview with Eko Hot Blog Correspondent, debunked such fiction, adding that investigation is ongoing to authenticate such reports.
The monarch, therefore, urges youth in the locality to shun violence and embrace peace.
“This is not a favourable time for such violence due to coronavirus ravaging society.
“Government has given the order that everybody should stay indoor, so while the protest, this is a violation of government order.
“I enjoin the youths to embrace peace, shun violence and oblige to government directives.
“The community leaders are on top of the situation and will communicate accordingly to the public on the outcome of there findings to the above subject matters.
“Government directives are for our own benefits, We should all obey it. May we not be a victim of this deadly COVID-19 pandemic, “he prayed.

Meanwhile, The Public Secretary, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ibeju-Lekki Branch, Mr Jimoh Akolawole Ismaila in a press statement issued to the public, said that the rumour concerning Dangote Refinery workers tested coronavirus positive has an iota of truth in it.
Ismaila said that the youth council following the rumour swung into an investigation on the alleged coronavirus positive victims of Dangote refinery staff.
According to him, he said the council gathered information from a Medical Officer of Health, in Ibeju Lekki, which confirmed the statement that some of the Dangote staff were alleged of coronavirus pandemic and were invited to the health centre for a test.
Ismaila appealed to Dangote workers living within Ibeju-Lekki axis, as a matter of urgency should go for quarantine and receive proper treatment.
Speaking to Eko Hot Blog, CSP. Thomas Orire, the Divisional Police Officer, Akodo, said that the security personnel are on top of the violence/protest issue in Eleko community.
He said that the situation is under control and have been put to rest.
“No protest without damages of properties, but the security agencies have put the matter to rest, ” he said.
