COVID-19: Nurse, Mother Tests Positive In Epe, Evacuated For Quarantine
COVID-19 is indeed not a child’s play and should not be treated with kid’s gloves but with necessary kits and above all, obeying all safety precautions.
Eko Hot Blog Correspondent reports that, recently, the Lagos state government reported that, Epe and 2 other local government in Lagos State are yet to record any case of COVID-19.
Prior to the announcement, It was rumoured that a NURSE who lives in Imokun, Epe, was infected by coronavirus and her sample had been taken by NCDC Officials for sampling.
Recently, her test result and that of her mother who lives in the same residence with her, returned Positive.
Unfortunately, we don’t know those who have come in contact with her in the community before their test result came out. Information reaching Eko Hot Blog has it that contact tracing has begun.
Our Correspondent reports that the “Nurse” and her mother have been picked up by NCDC officials on Monday for quarantine and treatment.

All residents of Epe, Eredo, Ikosi-Ejinrin, and other neighboring communities are enjoined to visit the Lagos State COVID-19 testing centre at Epe PHC by Old Ijebu-Ode Garage at Ita-Opo for testing.
Speaking with our Correspondent on the confirmation of the news, a volunteer with the Lagos State Special Taskforce on Covid-19, Epe Chapter, Otunba Bode Oguniyi, said that the case has been confirmed.
Oguniyi said that his volunteer team on COVID-19 have met with Dr. Nurain Ayeola, the Medical Officer of Health and Head of the COVID-19 test centre in Epe, for proper training.
He said his volunteer team have met with the Oloja of Epe, Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun, Olu of Epe, Oba Sefiu Adewale and the D.P.O, Epe Division, who all gave them support for the initiative as volunteers to curtail the spread of the virus in the community through advocacy and other possible means.
According to Ogunniyi, he said that, DPO, Epe Police Station, CSP. Tokosi Adekunle frowned at the poor compliance of Epe residents regarding government’s lockdown and Social distancing order aimed at curbing the pandemic in our environment.
He said the DPO promised to do all his best in making sure that strict adherence by the populace is achieved. He said the DPO promised to ensure that the NCDC guidelines are followed by Epe community.
In lieu of the social distancing, the total wearing of a mask and other orders by the government to curb further spread of the virus in Epe community.
The DPO also promised to engage the men of Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps for proper implementation of the guidelines to eradicate the ravaging virus and arrest defaulters.
Oguniyi said that his team went to all areas in Epe community to sensitize the people on the need to wear facemasks and wash their hands frequently.
Also, to avoid social gathering and do all possibilities to stay safe.
“We pray to God to safe us from this disastrous epidemic and we promised not to relent in our effort to contribute our quota to the welfare of our people and to fight against this cruel oppressor called COVID 19, ” he said.
