We Remain Committed To Safety, Health Of Workers – LASG
Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to the safety and health of workers in the State as it joins the International Labour Organisation to commemorate the World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2020, themed: “Stop the Pandemic, Safety And Health Can Save Lives”.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director-General, Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola, the Day is an annual event celebrated globally on 28th April, to create awareness on accident prevention and reduction of work-related illnesses and injury at workplaces.
He declared that various institutions and governments are currently faced with the challenges of combating the Coronavirus pandemic ravaging the globe, as such, there is a need for the campaign on prevention and safety in workplaces.
He averred that the Y2020 World Safety and Health at Work is focused on the need to embracing safe practices in all workplaces and developing means of practical action for the protection of workers and their mental health.
While calling on all workers to continue to support the government efforts to curb the spread of the Coronavirus in the State, Majola maintained that the present administration is determined to do whatever is necessary to ensure the safety and health of its workforce.
