Zimbabwe Extends COVID-19 Lockdown Indefinitely, To Be Reviewed Every Two Weeks

The President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, has said that the COVID-19 lockdown imposed on the country will continue to hold and will be revisited every two weeks.

According to the president, the World Health Organisation has categorized the transmission of the disease in Zimbabwe as “sporadic, with one or more cases imported or locally detected.

“This may suggest that despite the small numbers tested, our country might have a reduced COVID-19 trajectory,”

“Zimbabwe will, therefore, continue on … lockdown for an indefinite period. We shall have two-week interval reviews to assess progress or lack of it.”

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, Ekohotblog understands that Zimbabwe has forty-four (44) confirmed cases, seventeen (17) recovered and four (4) death.
