FG Reveals Stakeholders Key To Ending COVID-19 In Nigeria As Eased Lockdown Ends
The federal government on Sunday revealed those that will be instrumental to ending COVID-19 in Nigeria as the second phase of eased lockdown comes to an end.
The Chairman of the Presidential Taskforce (PTF) on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, said local governments, community and religious leaders will be vital for the next phase of battle against COVID-19.
Mustapha made this known when he led the PTF delegation to aso rock to update President Muhammadu Buhari on situation of things regarding the pandemic in the country.
Mustapha, who doubles as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, said the decision to draft in the stakeholders in the COVID-19 battle was due to the fact that Nigeria was currently experiencing community infection.

Addressing State House Correspondents after the meeting, Mustapha disclosed that the Federal Government will only provide supervision and coordination, going further.
He said: “The ownership of the next stage will be the responsibility of the states because we have gone into community transmission.
“Where are the communities? The communities are in the states. So, the ownership of the next stage will be the responsibility of the states, the local government, the traditional institutions, the religious leaders at the different levels of our communities, because that is where the problem is.”
Statistics by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, showed that the country now has 10,162 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
This followed the confirmation of 307 new cases.
