Troops Dislodge Bandits In Kaduna, Kastina, Recover Phones, Rifle
The Nigeria army has called residents of the areas affected by banditry to notify it of nefarious activities in order to help ramp up it war against insecurity in the country.
The call follows a victory recorded by the troops over bandits in Kastina and Kaduna.
Two armed bandits were disarmed while many others took to their heels with gunshot wounds at the border between Katsina and Kaduna states after a devastating onslaught from troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH
In a statement by the Coordinator Defence Media Operations, Major General, John Eneche, the military said bandits came to a dead end during blocking operations conducted by troops of Operation Whirl Punch under Operation ACCORD against interstate movement of bandits and cattle rustlers.
During the operation, according to the statement one AK 47 rifle and two mobile phones were recovered from the bandits.
“During blocking operations against interstate movement of Bandits and Cattle rustlers, troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH under Operation ACCORD on 7 June 2020 neutralized 2 bandits, while others fled with gunshot wounds at Tabani and Tashan Bawa (Border between Sabuwa LGA in Katsina State and Kuyello District in Birnin Gwari LGA of KADUNA State). Items recovered include one AK 47 rifle and 2 mobile phones.
“As a matter of security alert, people in the general area of Operation ACCORD, should report individuals with sudden and suspicious injuries to the security forces. This is to ensure that escapees are mopped up”, it urged.
The Coordinator in the statement said the Military High Command congratulates Operation WHIRL PUNCH for their commitment while urging the general public to continue to provide timely and credible information that is already yielding results.
