COVID-19 Funds: SERAP Sues NCDC, Health Minister Ehanire
Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has filed a lawsuit against Director General Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Chikwe Ihekweazu and Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire over “their failure to account for the public funds so far spent to combat the spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria.
SERAP announced details of the lawsuit in a statement on its official Twitter account on Sunday.

It demanded that the Health Minister, Dr. Osagie Ehnaire and Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu should account for all COVID-19 donations from federal and state governments, and the private sector.
The statement read:
“We’ve filed a lawsuit asking the court to direct & compel @NigeriaGov Health Minister & NCDC to account for the spending of COVID-19 money, including donations from the private sector & to publish the number of tests for politicians as compared with tests for the poor.
“The suit filed last week at the Federal High Court, Abuja, read: “Nigerians have the right to know how COVID-19 money is spent, to reduce the possibility that the money will be diverted, mismanaged or stolen. There’s no justifiable legal reason for failing to publish the details,
