Ghana Reopens 600 Nigerian Shops After Six Months Of Being Locked

The Ghanaian government has ordered the re-opening of 600 shops belonging to Nigerian traders in Ghana after being locked for six months.

According to reports, the shops had been locked up since last December after an argument between Nigerian and Ghana traders sprang up.

The President, National Association of Nigerian Traders, Dr. Ken Ukaoha, made this know during his visit to the Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in Abuja on Tuesday.

He described Erewa contributing toward the cause as“untiring and unrelenting efforts in resolving the lockdown of Nigerian shops in Ghana for over six months.”

Dr. Ukaoha added that the ECOWAS Protocol of Free Movement of Persons, Goods, and Services shouldn’t be observed in breach but rather be observed in the spirit of brotherhood and diplomatic reciprocity.

NIDCOM Chairman, Dabiri-Erewa commended the effort of Ukaoha and others for the gesture.

Dabiri-Erewa appealed to Nigerians to learn to coexist peacefully and in love.
