Former House of Assembly Member, Epe Constituency II, Hon. Segun Olulade has described the sudden demise of a trailblazing grassroots politician in Epe, Hon. Akeem Akojo, as a colossal loss to the APC.

He stated this while speaking with Ekohotblog at the 8th Day Fidau prayer organized in honour of the deceased, held on Sunday 17th January 2020.

According to the Lawmaker who represented Lagos East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, he said;

” I am here to, first of all, represent the Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Tokunbo Abiru and to also represent myself. Late Hon. Akeem Akojo worked with me closely for this last bye-election. We did everything together, he was a grassroots politician and a committed, loyal party man, he is a great loss to us “.

Speaking further with Ekohotblog, as a strong advocate for youth participation in politics, Hon Olulade extolled the virtues of Late Akeem Akojo which he implored the youths actively participating in politics to imbibe.

” If there is anything that made the two of us work closely and efficiently, it has to do with his agility, brilliance, dedication, commitment and the youthful energy he brought into campaigns. So, we need a lot of young people in politics, a lot of young people in government not just as political tools but as an active player and that I will continue to advocate.

“Everybody knows me in this country pertaining to what I have done in encouraging the younger generations to take over the political terrain and I must say that that is one of the reason I will continue to support the aspiration of the younger generation to attain leadership positions. This is because they bring a lot of energy, creativity and innovation, they are focused “, he averred.

Hon Segun Olulade who is not oblivious of a changing world, especially on the heels of globalization and technology, made case for creative, innovative and vibrant youths whom he strongly believes should be availed with the platform to actively participate in the business of governance within the early age brackets of 30-50 because of their energy. Anyone above the stated age bracket, he opined, can partake in Presidential or Senatorial leadership positions.

” Our youths are the future and when we say somebody is the future, the fellow should be allowed to start acting now, not at the age of 60 or 70 years, you can’t be the future at that stage, when we need you most is at the age of 30 40 and 50s and that is the kind of energy that we deserve. Once you are above that age bracket, you can vie for Presidency or even a Senator but not at the grassroots politics.

“So, we need more vibrant, articulate, dedicated, young youths full of energy that could bring in their innovation and creativity into governance. This is the age that people are talking about technology. So we should present people who are vast in technology, who are intellectually sound, who have a passion for service and are committed. So for me, I will always go for the younger generation “, Eleniyan said.

Earlier , Hon. Segun Olulade announced a cash donation to the tune of half a million naira from Senator Tokunbo Abiru.

The benevolent former Lawmaker and youth leadership advocate also personally donated the sum of 200 Thousand Naira to support the wife and children of the deceased.
