Eko Hot Blog reports that family, friends, and well-wishers of Late Elder Isreal Odukomaiya, on Friday, January 19, 2024, gathered to pay their last respect at a Funeral Wake held in honour of the deceased.
The Wake, a solemn gathering marked by hymns and heartfelt tributes, held at late Odukomaiya’s residence.
The late elder, who passed away on November 18th, 2023, was remembered by all we knew him at the emotional ceremony.
The proceedings commenced with a touching rendition of a hymn, setting a reflective tone for the evening. The Bible readings, a central part of the service, were led by close family members.
Oluwakemi Adetoun, the daughter of Late Elder Isreal, recited the first reading, followed by Babatunde Odukomaiya, his son, and Miss Ejiro Odukomaiya, who took the third reading. Ayomide Odukomaiya, another member of the family, concluded the scripture readings.
During the Wake, heartfelt testimonials were shared, painting a vivid picture of Late Odukomaiya’s character.
Attendees spoke of him as a generous soul, known for his philanthropy and unwavering support within the community. His commitment to contributing to the betterment of society was highlighted, along with his emphasis on education and integrity.
In an emotional tribute, Odukomaiya’s son, Adelekan Odukomaiya, praised him not just as a father but as a compassionate and understanding “daddy” with a profound commitment to his children’s well-being.
He emphasized his father’s values, including a keen sense of integrity and the importance he placed on education.
The man of God presiding over the service offered words of solace and guidance in his sermon. He encouraged the gathering to reflect on their lives and prepare for the inevitable meeting with their creator. The congregation was advised to lead righteous lives, free from hindrances that could obstruct their path to salvation.
As the evening concluded, Mr. Adelekan Odukomaiya extended gratitude to all attendees for their presence and support during this challenging time.
