Yetunde Teriba, a gender expert, a seasoned administrator, and an accomplished scholar hails from the popular Lagos-island area of Lagos state.
Currently residing in the United States Of America, City Of Chicago, to be precise. Yetunde started her life in Lagos, where she had her primary and secondary school education.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters’s degree in Educational Management, both from the University of Ibadan with several other degrees from England, France, and Ethiopia.
As an administrator, she worked at the University of Ibadan for ten years before taking up an international job at the OAU in 1989.
Her research and intellectual contributions were pivotal to the development, progression, and inculcation of gender policies and advocacy into various programs and activities of AU (formerly OAU) commission, AU Structure, and AU member states.
These gender Policies include the Economic and Political Empowerment of Women, Women’s Right, Women, and Drug Abuse, Trafficking in Women, and Women’s Reproductive rights, amongst others.
Before retiring in December 2013, she was the head of the Gender Coordination and Outreach Division in the Women Gender and Development Directorate of the African Union Commission.
A recipient of several awards, both within the shores of Nigeria and outside, Yetunde Teriba’s contributions to the improvement of the lives of women and children within the continent of Africa is still being recognized and honored.
Yetunde Teriba is a member of the Lagosians Chicago, a chapter member of the Eko Club international (USA, CANADA, AND EUROPE).
Eko club international is an umbrella organization of Lagosians in the Diaspora, and the success of the Club could not have been plausible without the unflinching allegiance of dedicated members like Yetunde Teriba.
She also contributes to faith-based organizations as she serves as the Secretary to the board council of the International Pentecostal Church and contributes to Jesus House, Chicago as an active member of the elders’ group.
Married to late Professor Owodunni Teriba, a seasoned Economist for 41 years, she is blessed with four children and several grandchildren.
Yetunde Teriba, who can only be described as an embodiment of grace and admirable success, would be having the virtual launching of her book, ‘An Enriched Life’ via her Facebook and YouTube pages on Saturday, the 25th of July, 2020 between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. CST.

This book is an autobiography of Yetunde Teriba from childhood through adulthood.

Her contributions and work with the Organization of African Unity (OAU) now African Unity (AU), which she recounted explicitly in the book, is an interesting one indeed.
This author was a pioneering staff to the formulation and implementation of the policy on the evolution of women, gender equality and development Of women in Africa, a role she played so well, as she moved up her career ladder to become the head of the department head of Gender Coordination and Outreach Division in the Women Gender and Development Directorate. She retired in December 2013.
The author also touched on raising healthy and responsible children, which she believes is the greatest legacy of any parent.
