The abducted Sharia Judge in Kastina is the architect of his own misfortune by putting himself in harms way despite being abreast of the unpleasant security realities in the state, police have said.
Ekohotblog reports that Police in Kastina expressed dismay at Justice Hussain Samaila action, wondering why he would choose to hold a legal proceeding in a courtroom that had long been abandoned due to the perennial security challenges in the state.
Samaila was abducted by unknown gunmen on Tuesday evening, police spokesman in Katsina, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed in a statement on Wednesday.
Isah, however, said the police were investigating the incident and the motive behind the justice action.
He explained that the incident occurred at about 3pm in the old court premises located between Baure and Zakka villages in Safana Local Government Area.
“Yes, it is true that the judge, Hussaini Samaila has been abducted while the courts are on strike. The court had stopped sitting in that area for long,” Isah said.

Isah noted that the court had been relocated to Safana due to security challenges in the area, and it was not clear why the judge went there without security cover.
The spokesman further asserted that all courts in the state had been shut down due to the strike by judiciary workers, wondering why the judge decided to travel to volatile and attack-prone area without police protection.
“The judge went to the area alone to take something in the court without a court orderly or police escort, knowing fully the insecurity challenges in that area.
“Even if he has to go there, he should have asked for security cover and we would have given him considering his position.
“We are investigating the issue to find out the reality, and why he should put himself in such danger,” he said.
