EKO HOT BLOG reports that a 32-year-old graduate of Yola, Adamawa State’s Moddibo Adama University (MAU) was shot dead by his captors after they had received N500,000 in ransom from his family
Along with six other people, Abdulmalik Tukur, who just finished the one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program in Plateau State, was abducted from his family’s home in the Vinkilang neighborhood outside of Yola on Monday night.
According to a source who spoke to Daily Trust, each victim’s release came after a ransom of up to N400,000 was paid. However, the ransom demand for Abdulmalik’s release from captivity was N50 million.
An deal was struck with the victim’s family after three days of negotiations, and they sent a representative to deliver the N500,000 agreed upon to a location in the bush.
According to a family member, Abdulmalik’s father provided the funds on Thursday at around 7 o’clock.
“After they helped them count the notes, they released Abdulmalik to return home. As he started walking to freedom they shot him with a gun without any explanation,” he said.
SP Sulaiman Nguroje, the spokesman for the Adamawa Police Command, stated that he has not yet received any information on the incident
