No fewer than 28 persons were killed and properties worth millions of naira destroyed in a deadly boundary clash between people of Ariam Usaka Ukwu community and the neighboring Ini Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State over a boundary dispute.
Stanley Nwabuisi, member representing Ikwuano constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, disclosed this on Saturday while addressing newsmen.
The Abia lawmaker said that the people of Ariam Usaka Ukwu are lawful, hence have chosen not to retaliate or avenge the killing of their kinsmen by the people of Ini Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
Nwabuisi charged security agencies in the state to act swiftly and decisively to stem the tide of the brazen killings of Abia people in the crisis.
He also appealed to the State House of Assembly Committee on Land and Boundary Commission to draw up solutions that will forestall further loss of lives and properties in the affected community.
