Eko Hot Blog reports that the member of the House of Representatives representing Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South Federal Constituency of Abia state, Obi Aguocha, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to assist in securing the freedom of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
Aguoacha emphasized that Kanu’s release would signify a commitment to promoting peace and progress in the South East region and the welfare of the Igbo people.
He highlighted that Kanu, Omoyele Sowore, Sunday Igboho, and Godwin Emefiele are all Nigerian citizens facing various allegations by the government.
“Is Nnamdi Kanu not a citizen? Does Nnamdi Kanu not have a concomitant constitutional right to be granted bail? Shouldn’t Nnamdi Kanu at this point be released unconditionally?” the lawmaker questioned, arguing that Sowore and Igboho have been granted freedom due to the judiciary’s commitment to safeguarding citizens’ rights.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, security operatives have apprehended two individuals believed to be supporters of the Yoruba Nation movement for their alleged involvement in the incursion of the Oyo Government Secretariat on Saturday morning.
