EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Network Against Corruption and Trafficking Foundation (NACAT) has sued the Acting Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Folashodun Shonubi, and the Deputy Governor, Edward Adamu, over their alleged refusal to declare their assets.
The lawsuit was filed in a Federal High Court in Abuja. The Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) is also named in the suit.
NACAT is a non-governmental organization that works to combat corruption and financial crimes. The group claims that Shonubi and Adamu are listed as directors in several companies, but they have failed to declare their interests in these companies in their asset declaration forms.
NACAT argues that Shonubi and Adamu have a statutory obligation to declare their assets as public officers. The group is seeking an order from the court to compel the CBN and the CCB to produce the asset declaration forms of Shonubi and Adamu.
The case is yet to be assigned to a judge.
